SC Welcomes New Readers
The Trotskyist League/Ligue trotskyste successfully completed a seven-week subscription drive on October 7, netting 460 points and surpassing our national quota by 26 percent. Comrades sold 175 subscriptions to Spartacist Canada, 100 to Workers Vanguard (biweekly newspaper of the Spartacist League/U.S.), 72 to Le Bolchévik (publication of the Ligue trotskyste de France) and 13 to other International Communist League publications. Congratulations to comrade Simon in Montreal for winning this year’s campaign with 66 points!
The annual subscription drive gives us the opportunity to broaden our readership and gauge the political mood in society. In addition to sales on campuses in the cities where we have an ongoing presence, we also made trips to Ottawa/Gatineau, Peterborough and Nanaimo, B.C. We sold subscriptions to trade unionists at Labour Day in Toronto and Hamilton, and also intersected a nine-day truckers strike in suburban Toronto. In Montreal, comrades sold papers and subscriptions at the 150,000-strong Common Front union mobilization on October 3. We also intervened at protests in defense of immigrants in several cities. We welcome our new readers and returning subscribers, and encourage you to send your letters and comments, as well as to come out to our forums and other events.
